Helicopter Mi-38

The Mi-38 helicopter is a multipurpose machine that can be widely used in all branches of the national economy and for transporting both cargo and passengers. Often this car is used to transport VIPs. With its help you can carry out rescue and search operations, it can also be used for flights over water objects. Since this machine is one of the latest developments of the Mile design bureau, it has in its design most of the composite materials. The new machine has a significant glazing area of the cockpit.

History of creation

At the end of 80-ies in the USSR it adopted a policy of accelerating technological progress. It was aimed at improving the technology, which must comply with international peers. It is for these reasons that a lot of innovations have been introduced in the helicopter. These facts led to the creation of a qualitatively new multi-purpose machine, which received the name Mi-38.

The first sketches of the future development and the helicopter began to take place in Kazan branch Mile with 1983 years. But in 87, the customer wanted to implement in the car more and more new and innovative solutions, which were to improve the technical characteristics of the helicopter. It is for this reason that the further development of the project began to engage designers Mil Moscow bureau. Chief designer was A. Ivanov, and later he was replaced by N. Chkalov.

Mi-38 became the first helicopter that was designed and manufactured in accordance with international norms and standards. It also served to accelerate the formation in our country of legislation for the certification of helicopters that met European and American standards for airworthiness. But the collapse of the Soviet Union brought a delay in the further development of helicopter construction. The Russian Federation was interested in the development of aviation, and therefore a program for its development was created. It gave a qualitatively new impetus for the production of the Mi-38 helicopter.

Features of the Mi-38

Since Mi-38 - multipurpose helicopter, he should perform various tasks, such as the transport of goods, passengers, carry out installation work, loading and unloading. It was used as a rescue and medical car. The helicopter of this model can be used for scientific expeditions, as well as for the transport of persons in the cabin comfortable class.

The model of the air unit can carry out missions under very difficult weather conditions and at any time of the day. Mi-38 works perfectly at temperatures of up to + 50 -60 degrees Celsius.

The machine is constructed according to the classical scheme of using a single screw, which is equipped with six blades. Tail rotor blade has four X-shaped. Due to the well thought-out design of the helicopter fuselage it has excellent aerodynamic properties. The machine frame consists of three layers, which include composite materials. The blades of both propellers are made of fiberglass.

Maintenance of Mi-38 much cheaper and easier than the previous machine Mi-8. This was achieved due to the fact that the designers took into account all the problems that arise in the design and manufacture of other models of the Mi series. Due to a sufficiently large cargo cabin helicopter can carry bulky loads.

It is equipped with a large cargo door, which is located in the tail of the car. There is also a side door, which is equipped with a ladder. With it also possible to load. A large cargo door can make loading equipment. When an emergency evacuation of passengers and pilots can be carried out through the side door of the machine.

This model is equipped with a winch, which is fixed at the door on the right side. It can lift loads of up to 300 kg. The passenger version of the machine allows you to carry up to thirty passengers, and the interior is equipped with pantry and toilet. Rescue option allows the machine comfortably accommodate couples 8 stretcher with the victim.

By using the latest equipment and a large viewing from the cockpit of this machine can be operated by one pilot. Flying with two pilots are mainly carried out with the passengers. In addition, helicopter equipment allows to do without the help of a flight engineer.

Mi-38 meets all modern international safety requirements. Due to the fact that the power plant of the machine is located at the rear, the machines can make a sufficiently safe landing of the helicopter in an emergency situation. Even with a breakdown of the oil system of the machine, the helicopter can still operate for about half an hour. The whole control system is equipped with hydraulic boosters, which facilitate the work of pilots. The fuel tanks of the helicopter are located in the floor of the cargo compartment. But also they are thought out so well that when falling from a height of about 15 meters the fuel will not spread and will not lead to a fire.

For security and soft landing helicopter has a lot of cushioning systems that are equipped with the passengers and the pilots seat and chassis system. In the event of an emergency on the water bodies Mi-38 splashdown helicopter has a system that ensures the safe evacuation of the car.

The helicopter is equipped with the latest devices, which controls the avionics system. All information is displayed on the displays in the cockpit pilots. In addition, the helicopter is equipped with instruments for the calculation of the weather situation, as well as flight navigation. The machine has an autopilot and electronic control of the power plant.

Due to the fact that the helicopter complies with all international and Russian standards of quality and safety, it can be considered a full-fledged competitor in the global helicopter market.
