Helicopter EU 130 B4

  • Eurocopter EC 130 - light single-engine helicopter.
  • Designed by «Eurocopter». The first take-off took place in 1999 year.
  • Built with composite tion. A few modifications produced.
  • The helicopter comes over 30 the world.

A helicopter with a single main rotor EC130 is a modified variant of Eurocopter AS350 B3. It has the means to stabilize the situation in space flight and automation. In this helicopter made the first flight of the Australian test pilot Steven Paige 24.06.1999 years.

Designed for travel companies primarily providing air tours. Therefore, in relation to the original model, he has significantly increased: glazing area, cabin width, sound insulation (thanks to the side shielding of the rear propeller). As a result, the model has a more spacious cab with excellent visibility and capacity for up to seven tourists.

The EC130 helicopter was designed, commissioned and manufactured in close collaboration with US travel operators, primarily Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, the first travel operator to use this helicopter. The EC 130 was commissioned by Blue Hawaiian in 2001 and is now a common sight at tourist sites such as the Grand Canyon, Hawaiian Islands, and so on.

In the helicopter cockpit in the tourist version there are 2 rows of 8 people: 3 passengers and 1 pilot in the first row, 4 passengers in the second row. This is the layout of the seats in the cabin of the helicopters of the Papillon aviation company, which flies in the USA over the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas (including excursions that involve landing inside the Grand Canyon). The pilot's seat is at the extreme on the left (as in a left-hand drive, that is, a European car). This makes it possible for the pilot, in poor visibility or landing in fog, hovering at a height of 1-5 meters, to inspect the place under the helicopter's skis below, looking out the window that opens on its convex door. In difficult conditions for a better view, the pilot can, if necessary, open his door ajar without unfastening his seat, and objectively assess the area under the hovering helicopter, stretching his neck and bending slightly to the left through the threshold.

The EC 130 helicopter has a multi-blade special fenestron (propeller in a ring) at the end of the rear beam, which is installed instead of the usual tail rotor as in the standard AS350. This fenestron has unevenly spaced blades, as well as an increased angular speed of rotation (which simultaneously reduces vibrations), in comparison with an open conventional propeller. The presence of fenestron reduces the external noise level by 50 percent compared to the tail rotor of the original model. As a result, the noise level of a flying helicopter according to the EPNdB criterion (Effective Perceived Noisein Decibel - effectively perceived noise in decibels) is 84,3 dB. This is 8,5dB less than the Category XNUMX Noise Threshold as per Appendix H of the FAA, the US national aviation regulatory authority. In addition, the closed propeller is almost safe for people who are near the helicopter when it is on the ground with the engine running.

The EC 130 helicopter is also becoming popular as a helicopter used for medical services, as an ambulance helicopter, since its considerable cabin with wide side doors in the back row can comfortably accommodate one or even two stretchers. In this case, in the front row, there are usually seats for two accompanying passengers, if one pilot (instead of another front passenger seat, medical equipment can be placed). The safety of fenestron also simplifies and accelerates the unloading and loading of the wounded and patients (there is no need to wait for the engine to turn off to load / unload patients from the helicopter), especially in critical conditions when it is impossible to stop the helicopter engine. Eurocopter in 2012 received orders for 50 EC 130 T2s from Maverick Helicopters, and other customers (Papillon, BlueHawaiian, etc.).
