A type: single-engine light connected vysokoplan

A third design of the double triumvirate civil aircraft tested by the US Army in August 1941 years. The source for the aircraft Y0-57 company "Teylorkraft" actually was the standard airplane model D, hastily camouflaged in temnoolivkovy color. All three aircraft were called Grasshopper and equally fine-tuned to increase the durability of the airframe and to improve visibility pilot.

To achieve the latter, the cab glazing was enlarged and cutouts were made at the root of the wing. The initial order for 336 0-57 aircraft was received by Taylorcraft after these design changes, after which 1942 copies were ordered in 140. By the beginning of the delivery of the second batch, there was a reclassification of this type of aircraft from reconnaissance to liaison, in connection with which all 0-57 / 0-57A turned into L-2 / L-2A. The remaining two batches of aircraft ordered from Taylorcraft were 490 L-2B aircraft, modified for artillery fire, and 900 L-2M aircraft, which had a fully bonnet-engine and spoilers on the wing. "Taylorcraft", as well as "Aeronka" and "Piper", was involved in the production of a small number (253 copies) of gliders based on the L-2 aircraft.

Received the designation ST-100 these machines have been widely used for the training of future pilots of gliders front. Many former military aircraft L-2 after the war were in the civil register of the United States, while at the same time, other planes released "Gresskhopper» (Grasshopper - a grasshopper) were delivered to the Air Force friendship around the globe. Over the past ten years, the company's aircraft "Teylorkraft" along with other intelligence during World War II have become very desirable and relatively inexpensive historic military aircraft.
