Saab 340 - turboprop airliner Swedish company «Saab AB».

The aircraft is a cantilever monoplane with low-positioned wing, all-metal design and power with selective use of composite materials. Designed in two versions: the basic configuration of air transport and another option for service transortirovok.

Wing

The wing has a trapezoidal shape with two side members, preferably made of aluminum alloy. It consists of two structurally consoles, joints along the longitudinal axis of the aircraft under the fuselage. This is achieved by weight reduction and increased resource structure. The upper and lower wing skin is manufactured in the form of panels with stringer stamped and glued plates. The volume between the spars hold fuel tanks. The front end of the wing is able to withstand the impact of birds. Composite materials are also used in the construction of the flaps.

Saab 340 in flight

When designing the wing, Fairchild and Saab decided to use a profile that provides the wing with good aerodynamic properties and, at the same time, sufficient volume to accommodate fuel tanks. We investigated profiles designed for medium and low speeds, designed at the Langley Research Center (NASA). The best profile was MS (1) 0313.

Advanced NASA profiles significantly outperform conventional NACA profiles in terms of lift. NASA profiles during climb have an aerodynamic quality 31-55 percent higher than NACA profiles, and have a small advantage during cruise flight. A higher lift value is usually associated with a higher pitch moment, but this rule is not met for MS profiles.

Studies have made it possible to determine the best wing thickness at which it is possible to achieve the required volume of fuel tanks, low weight of the structure, high cruising characteristics, and low operating direct costs. When calculating the cost of 1 liter of fuel was taken for $ 0,4. With a low fuel cost, the profile thickness did not particularly affect the PER, but with a better fuel quality, the PER value increases gradually with increasing wing thickness. For the SF-340 aircraft, the optimal wing was found with a profile with low drag. The wing shape was optimized taking into account the peculiarities of operation - in a typical flight there are usually a couple of intermediate landings.

When calculating the dimensions of the wing, two main requirements are taken into account: landing at the maximum landing weight and climb with one engine running from the strip, which is located at an altitude of 1525 meters above sea level, under conditions of +30 degrees Celsius.

Fuselage

The fuselage is formed by three main sections: bow (with the cockpit), central, aft (with the luggage compartment). The fuselage has a circular cross-section. The tail and bow sections have a semi-monocoque conventional design. The central section is made up of the top, bottom and two side panels. These panels include a cladding to which reinforcing stringers and overlays are attached. In addition, the side panels are fitted with glued window frames. All four panels, when assembled, are riveted to each other and to the power frames. New lightweight passenger seats were specially developed for the aircraft, which are made of composite materials. There is a space for carry-on luggage under the seats. Large windows provide a good view. An alarm panel with an individual fan and lamp is mounted above each place. In front of the cabin there is a wardrobe, a toilet and a buffet.

In the passenger cabin there are ten rows of seats according to the scheme two + one and another row of four seats behind the cabin. On the left side of the front part of the cabin there is a passenger door with a separate hinged ladder. There is a service door on the starboard side. A cargo door is located on the left in the tail of the fuselage. Emergency exits are located above the wing on both sides of the fuselage. In the tail of the fuselage there is a compartment, which has a large cargo door on the left side. The partition that separates the passenger cabin and the luggage compartment can be moved, which makes it possible to quickly convert the aircraft into a cargo-passenger.

Plumage

The keel and stabilizer have a honeycomb structure with an aluminum alloy filler. The stabilizer area is 13,3 square meters, the keel is 8,07 square meters. The elevators (with an area of 3,46 square meters) and the rudder (with an area of 2,72 square meters) are made of a composite material based on Kevlar fibers; the ends of the rudders are made of fiberglass. All handlebars are equipped with trim tabs. Booster-free control system. Ailerons are used for cross-sectional control (area 2,12 square meters). Each aileron is equipped with an electrically actuated servo trim. Ailerons are made of composite material based on Kevlar fibers. Longitudinal and track and control is performed by elevators and rudders.

Chassis

Tricycle landing gear of the aircraft (the rack with dual wheels). Managed the front desk. Available damper automatically The vibrations. Stand retracted forward into the chamber on the fuselage. Rear racks are cleaned in the gondola theater forward. Wheels rear racks are equipped with disc brakes of the company «Goodyear», where vending machines are braking.

Electronic equipment

The SF-340 aircraft is equipped with an electronic complex digital automatic and directorial control system FGAS by Collins. It includes a VNI-80B vertical navigation system with a minicomputer, a digital flight data processing system ADS-81 and EFIS-86, a flight and navigation system. electronic digital devices with four indicators of color cathode-ray tubes.

The aircraft was operated in the army as a long-range reconnaissance aircraft. The "Eriay" system was installed on it, at the moment it is also being installed on Saab 2000 airliners.
