Rostov branch of the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation

One of the many branches of the Moscow Technical State University of Civil Aviation.

The university is carrying out many developments in the field of science. The university already now corresponds to the status of a research national university in terms of quantitative and qualitative indicators of research activities. Scientific research works are carried out on a very wide range of urgent tasks and problems facing civil aviation. A huge cycle of work was carried out to assess the effect of corrosion damage on the fatigue reliability of aircraft and glider construction materials. Highly appreciated by customers:

  • exploitation and development of ultralight flying machines;
  • study of the effect on the safety hazards of flight;
  • Use a combination of reality technology for the online directory with 3-D models of aircraft components;
  • reality technology combined c purpose. virtual visualization based on GLONASS / GPS landing system glide path;
  • creation of a modern computer system for professional training of flight personnel, which provides automated control over the training process in real time;
  • development of a cost strategy for the Aeroflot group to obtain quotas for greenhouse gas emissions (implementation of the European Parliament directive of 2008 EU ETS);
  • study controllability and stability of the aircraft under the influence of external disturbances.

To the strong innovative developments can be attributed the work of scientists to create a computer-based modern professional training system for flight personnel that provides automated monitoring of the learning process in real time, as well as the development of technical and tactical requirements for the training classroom for the maintenance and training of personnel in air traffic control . Cooperation with enterprises of the industry made it possible to establish cooperation in the innovation sphere, expressed in a significant increase in the number of contracts for the performance of research and scientific works. Only on 1 October this year, the Institute concluded sixteen contracts with the customers of the industry, while at the signing stage there are seven more contracts.

MSTU GA scientists pay much attention to flight safety problems. Among the unique developments of its kind is the patented method of ensuring ornithological safety of airports; a number of airports and airlines in Russia have already shown interest in it. The developed methods make it possible, for example, using oscillations in the millimeter wavelength range, to change the microcirculation in the nervous and circulatory systems. These fluctuations are most pronounced if the modulation uses a signal corresponding to the cry of a bird of prey.

To date, the most advanced development is the hardware and software complex of augmented reality glasses. In October 2012, augmented reality glasses caused a sensation in the press. Such glasses will help pilots in extreme situations when the autopilot and instruments fail, land the plane on the runway in conditions of zero visibility, thereby preserving the health and life of passengers.

In addition, these glasses have many different uses. For example, a dispatcher at an airport on a control tower can see an approaching plane in the air many kilometers away. Or use in the educational process along with teaching aids, a two-dimensional bar code is applied to its pages. By opening the page of such a manual, the student will be able to see in front of him a 3-D model of all objects, be it an airplane, an aircraft engine, and so on.

This model can be viewed from any side using the rotation of the manual. In this direction, developments are not only patented, but at the same time are priority areas of the university's research direction. Huge practical application in works related to ensuring the protection of motors from foreign objects falling into them from the runway. The effect in solving this problem lies in the exclusion of the possibility of damage to the rotor blades of the motor compressors from foreign objects.

In the structure of REC MSTU of civil aviation, there is a Department of Scientific Work, which organizes research and scientific work in terms of state budget and contractual research in the main areas of scientific research of the University. The main research areas are:

  • technical efficiency.
  • Airworthiness of aircraft. Technical and flight operation, durability and reliability aviakonstruktsy.
  • Restoration and repair of aviation equipment, fuel supply of civil aviation aircraft ..
  • Durability, diagnostics, durability of aircraft engines.
