Regional aircraft

Regional aircraft called a small airliner with passazhirovmestitelnostyu from the 30 100 to passengers and passenger transportation is carried out within the same country. In most cases, the big airlines such devices have regional divisions. These aircraft are engaged in the carriage of goods.

History

First passenger vehicles could carry only a small range of flights, so all of them could be considered regional. Due to the appearance of long-range aircraft with the rest was used for the transportation of passengers to them. The world's most small regional companies bought international airlines, which have a great potential.

The most widespread aircraft in the post-war period: the United States - DC-3, United Kingdom - Havilland Dragon. The development of this class of aircraft has always been delayed, due to this very often use obsolete machines.

Regional turboprop aircraft type

Since the 1950-ies, fuel economy and costs for regional flights have become topical, and as a result, new devices have been created, such as Handley Page, Avro 748, F27. They were successful, and in the future there was practically no need to replace them. Since 1970, the development of second-class machines began, as the previous ones simply exhausted their potential. The new machines of the regional class are the Dash-type machines. They served the emergence and development of such aircraft as Fokker F50, ATR 42 and Saab 340. It should be noted that the aviation market of this class was competitive, which is why some manufacturers left this niche.

On the territory of the Soviet Union after the end of the regional passenger transport war planes carried out the type Ilyushin and Antonov-14-24. I must say that they are operated and now in Asia and Africa. In Russia, for the transport of passengers within the country are using the AN-140 and IL-114.

Jet aircraft for regional transportation

In 50-th year though and was an active development of jet aircraft, all belonged to the same basic transportation turboprop models because of greater fuel economy. The first true jet aircraft for the transport of passengers on regional flights began aircraft BAe 146, which carried out the flights, as a rule, between the airports within the city and demanded a small airstrip.

Further, the company Bombardier introduced its twin-engine child with the designation CRJ. It was a successful machine. It is often compared with the Yak-40. It could also be used on mid-range flights with DC-9 and Boeing 737. It should be noted that jet cars create more noise on the ground, but they are quieter in the cabin, because of this, passengers preferred it to them. Another competitor in this market was the ERJ 145 machine, these were the main leaders and competitors in the market that did not allow other companies to develop. The success of the ERJ and CRJ aircraft led to the fall of such devices as the Fokker 100, and they could compete with even Airbus A319 and Boeing 737.

Speaking about the domestic market, there prevails the An-148 aircraft and the new Sukhoi Superjet, which was developed jointly with Boeing.

Modern tendencies

Since 2005, the development of regional airliners and their production dropped significantly, this is due to a significant rise in prices for fuel and maintenance of aircraft, in addition, a large number of airlines went bankrupt. It should also be noted that the regional jets are often allowed on the flights with a length of two hours. This resulted in a lot of customer complaints due to poor quality of service and comfort.

The end of the era of regional jets can be considered 2005 year because this is the year the company has ceased production of Bombardier regional jet type apparatus called CRJ-200. Instead, they began to use a more comfortable medium-liners type CRJ-700.

The main problem in delaying international flights is considered to use a large number of regional airliners. For example, in aircraft 2007 year in the United States average delayed for an hour and two minutes. This is due to fill schedules regional flights. In turn, it was put on with 2000 2006 year more than a thousand flights of regional jets, which allowed to write off 385 large machines. Such substitution has one drawback to the airports - they just do not have enough outputs to the aircraft.

Features jet regional aircraft

In the cabin of these aircraft closely enough, there is no space for hand luggage above the seats, so the luggage is placed in a special compartment. Also, the use of large aircraft is economically disadvantageous, since their maintenance is expensive and is carried out in special centers, and regional ones can be repaired at the airport. Regional aircraft are more economical per passenger than narrow-body counterparts for long-haul flights.
