Rostvertol is a Russian aircraft building company, as well as an aircraft manufacturing enterprise of the Russian Helicopters concern, located in Rostov-on-Don. For more than sixty years, the plant has been producing equipment related to aviation, including more than forty years Mi-brand helicopters. in the Soviet period it was called "Plant No. 168", then - RVPO (Rostov Helicopter Production Association).

All helicopters, repaired and manufactured at the enterprise, are tested at the airfield of the Severny Rostov-on-Don plant.

History

 

01.07.1939 based plant. In 1944 the plant started production of the aircraft on-2 and UT-2M, which were widely used during the Second World War. Aircraft piston-engine wooden structure made before the end of 1940-ies

In 1949 the company started mass production of Yak-14 (transport and landing gliders) with a capacity of twenty-five people. This is the first all-metal machine manufactured by the company ,.

At the plant in 1954-1955 years produced IL-40 turbojet aircraft, attack aircraft.

At the head of the plant at the origins of helicopter construction from 1955 to 1980 was Chumachenko D.M., who received the title of Hero of Socialist Labor in 1971. In difficult times, he re-specialized the Rostov aircraft plant to produce a completely new type of product - helicopters.

A pioneer in the field of serial helicopter construction was the Mi-1 helicopter, designed by the design bureau under the leadership of ML Mil. The plant produced 1956 such aircraft in 1960-370.

In 1959, the plant launched the production of the first Mi-6 heavy transport helicopter. This helicopter was used to erect bridges, install equipment at factories, install and transport drilling rigs, and other assembly and construction work. The helicopter has been mass-produced for over twenty years, starting in 1959. In 1964, the plant launched the production of a heavy Mi-10 helicopter.

The helicopter was designed to transport bulky cargo weighing up to fifteen tons on a cargo platform. Serially manufactured since 1964. Several world records for lifting cargo were set on the Mi-10 helicopter. On the basis of the Mi-10 helicopter, the Mi-1974K was created in 10 (the only flying crane of its kind, which still successfully performs national economic tasks. The plant has been serially producing the Mi-1971 (combat helicopters) since 24, since 1977 - the Mi-26 (transport helicopters).

01.07.1992 at the end of the privatization process, the Rostov Helicopter Production Complex called Open Joint Stock Company "Rostvertol".

From 1980 to 2000, the plant was headed by M.V. Nagibin, after whom the previously named Oktyabrya Avenue was named in Rostov-on-Don.

The main shareholders of Rostvertol are the Russian Helicopters concern (75,06 percent of shares), the Federal Property Management Agency (2,35 percent), other legal entities (16 percent), individuals (6,59 percent).

Production activity

 

At the moment, in addition to the serial production of the Mi-26T (transport helicopters) and Mi-35M, Mi-24 (combat helicopters), the enterprise also serially produces the Mi-28 (military helicopter), Mi-2A (modernized helicopter), in the process of preparation for serial production of the Mi-60 MAI (light training helicopter).
