It was made as a response to plane F-22, Which was created by American designers, but domestic machine had better characteristics. The most important difference and advantage of the domestic fighter was that it was planned to install new engines that changed the thrust vector. This machine has been equipped with a new stealth technology. A special feature of the machine was the fact that all the weapons were placed in the middle of the body. The history of the MiG-1.44
Design of the fighter began in 1979, in the framework of the project "fighter 90-x". At the beginning of the year 81 have developed requirements and recommendations for the creation of a new fighter.
