The most successful of the postwar British fighter plane "Hunter» (Hunter - Hunter) has gained popularity as an export market, and the Royal Air Force. Built according to the specifications F.4 / 48 the jet could reach supersonic speeds in a shallow dive and was as agile as any other fighter jet that period. The first production aircraft modification 139 F 1 were transferred to Fighter Command in the middle of the year 1953, followed in the same year followed 45 improved aircraft F 2 (with engines "Sapphire" Company "Armstrong Siddeley").
These early aircraft "Hunter" features unreliable engines, especially when shooting from guns "Aden", but the problem of getting gas to the air intake have been overcome on modifications F 4 (built 365 copies), F 5 (built 105 copies) and F 6 (built 383 instance). Power jet engines "Avon" (and "Safir» (Sapphire) on the modification of F 5) has steadily increased with each new version, and by the time the modification FGA 9, designed to perform attacks on ground targets, the engine "Avon» 207 company "Rolls -Roys "I had already 45,12 kN thrust. In addition, it has been improved thanks to the appearance and aerodynamics on the plane, starting with the modification F 6, with increased wing chord and the shoulder of the "Fang" on the front edge.
More radical was the modification of T 7 - training aircraft, based at F4. The first of these planes flew in October 1957 years. Last, 1985-th aircraft "Hunter" was assembled in 1966 year. Also sent to the export 429 new aircraft "Hunter" more 700 copies updated and delivered to the Air Force in seventeen countries around the globe. In 1988, the very small number of them remained on active service in Zimbabwe.
