In the middle of 1980 Beechcraft he obtained the rights to manufacture and began to produce this model Beechjet 400. Beechjet 400 has received FAA certification in May 1986.

Beechcraft / Raytheon has made a number of improvements to the model to build a model 400A in 1990. Improvements Beechjet400A mean higher takeoff weight, longer range and more comfortable superior room. Also offers full glass floor.

Beechcraft also created a US Air Force version of the 400T known as the T1AJayhawk, which is used to train the crews of huge planes (strategic cargo planes and tankers). 180 T1A trainer aircraft were delivered in 1992-1997. Another military option is the training T400 for the Japanese Air Force of Japan, which is essentially the same T1A.

Raytheon bought the entire Hawker line of jets from British Aerospace in 1993. As a result, the Beechjet400 was renamed Hawker400 in order to reflect its affiliation with Hawker products. The latest version of the model, the Hawker 400XP, received aerodynamic improvements, mechanical and interior improvements borrowed from the Hawker800XP.

Potential buyers were able to see the Hawker400XP for the first time at the EBACE2002 Business Aviation Show in Geneva, and immediately went into hunt. Which, in general, is not surprising, because the Hawker 400XP has modern navigation equipment, control systems, and an ergonomic interior.

The basic package included aircraft equipment installed previously only by choice: TCASII, emergency beacon, reverse the motor. Even the owner is given a five-year warranty on the airframe.

A small cabin, but it can be split into zones. For instance, two compartments. The first compartment can be equipped for business meetings - with table, armchairs and a sofa. The second part of the cabin quietly transformed into a recreation area, is set a few armchairs where passengers can relax before the upcoming work and gain strength.

In October 2008, HawkerBeechcraft announced a project upgrade, resulting in the new Hawker 450XP. The update included new, more economical Pratt & Whitney PW535D engines, each thrust 1345kgs. Work on the Hawker 450XP was discontinued in June 2009 due to the economic crisis.
