Capacity: the pilot and two passengers

The best, though it is debatable connected Army aircraft used by both sides during the Second World War. The plane "Shtorh» (Storch - stork) was the most successful car, the company issued based ace of World War I (and the world's greatest master of aerobatics of the interwar period), Gerhard Fieseler.

The Fi 156 aircraft featured amazing landing characteristics, thanks to a wing with a fixed slat along the entire span of its leading edge, as well as slotted flaps and hovering ailerons. Having defeated the competitive projects of Messerschmitt, Siebel and Focke-Wulf, Fieseler started production of Fi 156A-1 at the end of 1937. The Shtork airplane subsequently participated in all combat operations, and despite its fragile appearance, this aircraft reportedly had an average life expectancy ten times greater than the plane Bf 109! In fact, it was the last mentioned type of aircraft, which was being built by license of Fieseler, forced this company to transfer in 1942 the construction of its Fi 156 aircraft to France and Czechoslovakia. By the end of the war more than 2000 aircraft had been transferred to the German Air Force, with the most common modification being the C series.

After the war, production Fi 156 continued both in France and in Czechoslovakia. In France, a plane built by "Moran-Saulnier" and equipped with either an inverted inline engine 6Q company "Renault" or radial engine 9AV of "Salmson". By the end of 1990-ies in Europe remained more 30 aircraft "Shtorh" and some in North America, two-thirds of them were kept in a state of airworthiness.
