This light aircraft was developed by Czech aviation engineers in 2010, and the fuselage design is very similar to that of a motorized airframe, however, in fact, the aircraft belongs to the class of light aircraft. The Distar UFM-13 Lambada made its first flight in 1996, and a few months later, starting from the end of 1996, it began to be mass-produced.

The main reason why the Distar UFM-13 Lambada belongs to the class of motorized gliders is its very large wingspan, which is a characteristic feature of these aircraft. In fact, the aircraft is capable of moving in ascending and descending air currents, which in turn makes it possible to carry out fairly long flights.

The Distar UFM-13 Lambada model did not receive a large distribution mainly due to the limited functionality of this aircraft - its commercial operation is not expedient due to low passenger capacity. On board the aircraft can accommodate only two people, while the aircraft is suitable for air travel at distances up to 780 kilometers. The aircraft is not adapted for the transportation and transportation of goods due to the rather small payload received on board, and also because of the limited space in the cockpit of the aircraft.

A four-cylinder piston air-cooled aircraft engine Rotax 912ULS with a capacity of 100 hp is used as a power plant, however, the maximum speed of the aircraft is limited to only 185 km / h, which is also one of the negative aspects of this model. Initially, it was supposed to create a modification based on this version, equipped with a more efficient aircraft engine, however. Ultimately due to a lack of orders, the decision was canceled.

It is unusual is the location of the wings of the aircraft - the majority of the aircraft are located either at the bottom or at the top, however, the model Distar UFM-13 Lambada wings are located in the middle part, which according to experts is one of the reasons for the rather low airspeed.

In the period from 1996 to 2014, only 26 aircraft of this model were built, and, despite the low cost, which in the middle of 2015 was about 75 thousand dollars, the aircraft is practically not in demand from customers, which is why it is supposed to raise the question of removing this model from production.
