Canada

A type: Single-engine light transport aircraft vysokoplan

Capacity: A pilot and up to seven passengers

Having achieved great success with his Chipmunk airplane, De Haviland Kaneda created another winner - the DHC-2 Beaver, although these are two very different types. As the first of the company's "rural" aircraft (followed by the "Caribou" and "Twin Otter" aircraft), the Beaver (Beaver) was a simple, reliable, "flying everywhere" aircraft, characterized by incredible short takeoff and landing characteristics , And also capable of carrying a solid payload. The big breakthrough of the Beaver took place in 1951, when the army and the US Air Force chose it as a connected aircraft.

By the time the aircraft was completed under contract in 1960, 968 L-20A aircraft were delivered to the US armed forces, three-quarters of which were in the army. The Beaver became very popular in the frontline aviation and took part in the fighting in the Korean and Vietnamese wars. Having received in 1962 a new designation U-6A, the Beaver remained in the army and in the Air Force until the 1970-ies. Today, only the US Navy uses this type, exploiting three copies in its Pilot Test School. A number of Beaver planes were bought by several other countries, including Great Britain (46 for AL 1 aircraft used intensively in Northern Ireland), Chile bought 15 aircraft, Colombia purchased 18 copies, although there are very few of them in operation.

According to reports, a small number of these planes are still flying in Colombia. Total production of aircraft "Beaver" reached 1691 instance, and some of the liberated from military service machines operated today in civil aviation (mainly in North America).
