Along with the creation of the Boeing 757 aircraft, The Boeing Company decided to create a model marked as the Boeing767. These two models were developed in parallel with each other and therefore, in general, they are technologically identical. The essential difference is the interior design and layout of the cabin. The Boeing 767, unlike the 757, is a wide-body airliner with two aisles between the seats. The Boeing 767 has become a popular twin-engine airliner for flights across the Atlantic Ocean. The Boeing 767, like the Boeing 757, comply with the international civil aviation standards ETOPS (Extended Range Twin-engine Operation Performance Standards).

Initially, the airlines were offered the first version of the 767-100, but this version did not generate much interest due to the decrease in passenger capacity and which bore many similarities to the 757.

The fact that the Boeing 767 is capable of achieving commercial success among airlines was proved by the version of the Boeing 767-200, which differed from the previous model with an increased cabin. The aircraft was 48,51 meters long. The production of this modification began in July 1978, and in September 1981 the plane took to the skies. A year later, the first Boeing 767-200 aircraft were delivered to the American airline United Airlines, which ordered thirty aircraft at the beginning.

Later, Boeing developed a version marked as the Boeing 767-200ER. This modification received additional fuel tanks, which allowed this liner to make longer non-stop flights. The last official release of the 767-200 and 7-200ER was in 1994. But in 1998, production of the 767-200ER version continued after an order was received from Continental Airlines.

In February 1982, the company announced the development of a new version, which received the designation 767-300. This model is about 6,42 meters longer than 767-200. The first flight took place in January 1986 years, and in September of the same year, the airliner began commercial operation in «Japan Airlines» Air carrier (JAL). A version of 767-300ER, delivered in March 1988 years «American Airlines» company, is as 767-200ER extended modification with plenty of fuel. Boeing 767-300ER was the most popular with airlines, and is mainly used on long-haul flights and less busy routes.
