Modern small civil aviation in Germany was in need of intensive development at the end of the 90s, and therefore aircraft manufacturers from B&F Technik Vertrieb gmbh decided to start work on the development of a small two-seater aircraft operated for private purposes.

Initially, it was assumed that the aircraft of the B&F Fk14 Polaris model would be produced by a German aircraft manufacturer as kits for self-assembly, which in essence implied a low price, however, in the end, the aircraft were produced ready for use, and, moreover, the cost of one aircraft, according to for 2014, is only about 80 thousand euros, which is very little, especially given the very promising flight performance of this aircraft.

The B&F Fk14 Polaris made its first flight in May 1999, and a few months later, this aircraft was put into mass production, where it is located to this day. Over a 15-year production cycle, 150 aircraft of this model were built by German aircraft manufacturers, and production continues to this day.

The biggest disadvantage of the B&F Fk14 Polaris aircraft is the ability to take on board only two people - a pilot and one passenger, however, despite this fact, the aircraft remains quite popular and highly demanded. In addition to transporting people, the B&F Fk14 Polaris can also be used for sports and aerobatic stunts, which is facilitated by good handling and high maneuverability.

The B&F Fk14 Polaris is powered by one Rotax 912ULS four-cylinder piston aircraft engine capable of developing 100 hp and accelerating the aircraft to a speed of 290 km / h. (Maximum flight speed of the aircraft). For long-distance flights, the aircraft is of little use - its maximum range is limited to 648 kilometers.

Apart from the main production version, which appeared in the light in the year 1999, the German engineers have designed and produced the release of the three and also modified versions, including:

  • B&F Fk14B Polaris - Modification of 2003 years, equipped wings altered the profile of carbon fiber, the luggage compartment and a number of other minor improvements and changes;
  • B&F Fk14 B2 LeMans - An improved version of the aircraft, with a modified design of interior and exterior design altered;
  • Cirrus SRS - Modification, produced by «Cirrus Design Co.». Technical changes to the current version has not been fulfilled.
