A type: single-engine jet training aircraft

Crew: Two pilots are arranged side by side

Developed by the company "Percival" (later Hunting Percival) as an inexpensive jet modification of its piston aircraft "Provost" (Provost - Rector), Jet Provost (Jet Provost - jet rector) eventually became a completely new aircraft. Built on its own initiative at a time when the Royal Air Force was using converted warplanes to retrain pilots, this training aircraft soon received support from the Air Force, which evaluated the location of the pilots side by side and the impeccable handling of the specially created Jet Provost aircraft.

The initial batch of nine T 1 aircraft was purchased and work on a new curriculum in the flight training school No. 2 was started. Thanks to the success achieved with the use of these aircraft, the Royal Air Force officially accepted the Jet Provost aircraft in June of 1959, ordering an 201 aircraft in the modification of the 3 T-these aircraft differed from the modification of the T 1 by the presence of the catapult seats of Martin-Baker, , Fuel tanks at the ends of the wing, upgraded avionics and a cockpit canopy with a good overview. The next order for the modification of T 4 with another engine was issued in November of 1961, and up to 1964 the company XAC was built 198 aircraft. The latest modification to the Royal Air Force was the modification of T 5, which had a sealed cabin, a new windshield, a shifted lantern and an elongated nose. Since 1967, 110 aircraft of this modification have been built.

Export orders for the aircraft, "Jet Provost" had been received from Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Sudan, Iraq, South Yemen and Venezuela, all of them, as well as the Royal Air Force planes have already been decommissioned. Following the start of the withdrawal in 1993 year of operation of the aircraft, "Jet Provost" more 70 JP aircraft appeared in the civil register of the UK, the Netherlands, the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
