Chronology of events:

At the Belgrade airport "Surchin" on board was loaded with military equipment (pyro-cartridges), as well as aircraft tires. During the loading, the crew did not use either the aerodrome DC power supplies or the APU. DC consumers were powered by the 20 DC-DC emergency system NKBN-25 (four alkaline batteries). The crew, after starting the engines, forgot about the inclusion of the rectifiers VU6A (converting the alternating voltage 200V, which is generated by the alternating current generators of the main electric supply system, to the constant voltage 28,5V). As a result, the power supply of the 27B direct current system continued to be carried out from the emergency bus, electric current did not flow to the system from working alternating current generators. During the preparation for takeoff, taxiing and take-off, the batteries were still discharged. The operation of the consumers on the emergency bus caused the voltage drop in the system to be less than 18V, while the rectifying devices can not be turned on. After 3 minutes from take-off, the voltage in the network dropped less than 14V and the contactor of the control and protection unit tripped. The failure in the operation of the DC electric supply system by the voltage of 27V provoked the de-energization of the main consumers of radio-electronic and aircraft equipment. The crew organized a return to the airport of departure and for 2,5 hours, in difficult weather conditions, at night, without navigation equipment and in a no-booster mode, tried to land. At the next attempt to land on a lane with a course of 119 degrees, the plane crashed in a corn field in 800 m from the strip, partially burnt and collapsed.
