The history of the

3 1978 March, the Council of Ministers and the CPSU Central Committee issued a decree on strengthening the protection of structures on the Far East and Trans-Baikal Railway. From this decision it appeared that in the territories east of the country began to form new units of internal troops. First separate air squadron formed explosives in the city of Khabarovsk.

In the Kaluga region at the airport Ermolino is 70-th separate mixed aviation regiment of special purpose Interior Troops of Russia. Thence appointed commander Colonel IA Ivanovic. Interestingly, IL-76MD - one of the aircraft regiment - is named after the first head of aviation BB VM Ponomareva.
