The history of the airline "Kogalym"

Kogalym Airport has a long and rich history of development since the second half of the 70-s. Kogalym district is engaged in the oil industry, which has significantly expanded all areas of activity and infrastructure of the region. As for the city of Kogalym, it was formed only in 1985 year.

The construction of the Kogalym airport began with the initiative and financing of LUKOIL. Work began in the 1986 year. This allowed to ensure the development of transport communication and the entire oil industry of the region.

Due to the excellent financial support for the construction of the airport "Kogalym" were completed quickly. The operation of the air gate of Kogalym were handed over in the autumn of 1991 years. The first flight, which carried out the land, was the An-26.

The first passenger carriage took place at the end of the summer of 1992. It was carried out by Surgutavia Airlines from Kogalym to Ekaterinburg. A year later, the airport became an independent company and separated from the airline "Surgutavia".

The independent activities of the airport allowed to expand the geography of flights. Thus, communication was established with Moscow, Krasnodar, Tyumen and Mineralnye Vody. These were technical flights on Tu-134 aircraft. In the second half of 1993, they began to use a Tu-154-type vehicle, which transported to Sochi, Ufa, Kazan, and Samara.

At the end of 1995, the Kogalym Airport became open to international flights. Due to this, the status of an international airport was assigned to 1996. In the same year, the first flight abroad was served; it was a flight from Kogalym to Budapest.

It is worth noting that there is an equipped helipad on the territory of the airport, but the first flight and maintenance of the helicopter took place only in 2002, it was an Ecureuil 2. In the same year, large aircraft such as the An-124 began to be received. "Ruslan" conducted flights on the route Anadyr-Kogalym-Dyagilevo.

Starting with the 2002 of the year, small renovation works were carried out. Initially replaced the signal equipment on the runway. The work carried out in 2006 allowed us to obtain a permit for the use of Boeing-type aircraft. We also started servicing Boeing-type aircraft in the 2009 year.
